How long has it been since you took a good look at yourself?
I’m talking about time for deliberate introspection, for a one-on-one talk with the person sitting in your chair.
Before you auto-play the list of all the things you have failed at, though … reflect on some of the things The Bible says you are as a believer:
- You are chosen (1 Peter 2:9)
- You are a child of God (John 1:12)
- You are a member of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27)
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
romans 8:38-39 (NASB)
In other words, you are blessed beyond compare, and “the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us” (Romans 8:18).
That’s the good news.
The bad news is that you probably already have and probably will continue to suffer during your stay on Earth. We all do. And some have it a whole lot worse than others.
Opposition is guaranteed, and the more you direct your life towards Truth, the tougher the challenges can get. We can’t escape turmoil, but we can stand against it. Putting on the armor (Ephesians 6) is part of The Someday Plan.
